Silk Painting

An early attempt at silk painting. At this stage I was heavy handed with the gutta resist and very generous with the salt! I've still included it here because it shows the progression of design from the original starting point

I love the vibrancy of silk paints and I use them a lot. I'm glad to say I have progressed since this early sample and I'm now so much neater with the gutta lines!

The patterned effect is achieved by using large salt crystals. The salt draws the silk paint and soaks it up. Smaller patterns can be achieved using fine table salt
