So thankful

Sorry ... it's a bit deep today ...

I've been feeling deep for the last couple of weeks and I've needed some quiet time recently. Sometimes, I get so overwhelmed with inspiration all around me that actually my head hurts because I don't sleep well and my mind never stops thinking, planning, designing, drawing, making, researching, noticing, photographing and speaking words in my head ... I've had to take a step or two backwards to get my balance again ... does this make sense?

So, I'm taking a moment to be thankful for everything in my life ...

... the important things ...

... my health, my husband, my family, my friends, my love and appreciation of art and nature, my home, my ability to take comfort from the simplest of things and my gifts and talents given to me ... I feel blessed

I feel things deeply and to help me get through I have tried to concentrate on giving to others ... gifts of my time, gifts of encouragement, handmade gifts or just the gift of a smile and a kind word

I love beautiful and fine things but there should always be some balance and perspective and it is so true that there is more pleasure in giving than receiving. I have had a lot of fun putting parcels together for friends and the two blogs have been a blessing to me because I always get such encouragement in return so I wanted to say thank you to all of you who take the time to leave me nice comments

I've got a lot of things to show you in the next few posts, a giveaway coming up, then I will be back to mainly textiles again and perhaps another little tutorial ...

Thanks for reading my rambles ... no need to comment ... I'm just sending this out into the void of space .....

A beautiful blog. I am a great believer in the more I give away the more I get back in one way or other. It's sort of one of my philosifies of life. If you smile [and that costs nothing] you get people smiling back at you. Life is a much nicer place to be. I really hope your chill out time helps. Look forward to the show and tells that are up and coming. A x

Hello Carolyn :)
I've started reading your blog only recently but I certainly love it to bits !
Counting your blessings is the right thing to do, it helps us keeping our feet on the ground & realize how lucky we are.
I totally think the same way as you about the joy of making for friends & giving, and also about the support we get through our blogs & Flickr.
Please do keep on creating the way you do, you are a very creative lady, and I think I have a lot to learn from you, now that I want to dip my toes in natural dyeing.
All the best to you oxoxo

Walking, breathing, and taking in the beauty that surrounds us always helps to ground us. And yes - what you said about so much inspiration can make your head hurt - I totally understand what you're saying. It happens - and it can be frustrating - until..... until those creative juices start flowing and materialization just "happens." Like magic. Just saw your e-mail, but it's 5 here so it's about 10 pm there - way too late for you!!
XO

I know what you mean Carolyn about your mind never stopping.
I had the same problem a few months back and I had to take time out so that I could get my sleep pattern back into some order.
Take care.

I thought of you today when I went hiking in the hills. I saw some pretty red leaves! You are a blessing - you are open and kind, generous and creative with your artistic talents. I'm so glad to know you!

I know only too well the 'deep' times, a kind of drowning in ideas, worries or sadness for me, and time out watching the waves and feeling the pebbles crunch under my feet, whilst I beach comb with no real intent, is what stills my soul.
We each need our own method but its of great value, so enjoyyyyyy and realxxxxx. Really enjoy the blog, must try and make mine as interesting as yours!

I understand completely what you are saying. I find myself conflicted at times because of so much of what I see and want to try and by what I think/feel I should really being doing instead. Take it slow and all will be well.
