moon gazing

last night ...
I watched the big big moon in a soft pink sky

I watched the pink deepen to a hazy dusk

I saw ...

craters and stars on the moon's surface

I stayed a bit longer and watched the sky grow dark around the moon
and a wisp of a cloud passed by ...

a soft pink glow settled around the moon
reflections of the setting sun

still daylight somewhere on our small planet

the moon glow shimmering across the sea

goodnight beautiful moon

Oh my word Carolyn! Do you have a telescope, or is it 'just' a darn good camera? Superb photos! I love to watch the night sky and rue the fact there is way too much light pollution. Whenever I get the loan of a car I go miles out of town where there are no street lights and stand and stare skywards.
Thank you for sharing these incredible images ((hugs)) x

You have such an artist's eye. I have such a fascination for 'moon paths' on water. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful photos. Thank you.

Beautiful, beautiful photographs of a special neighbour. I especially love your final photo, so delicate. Are you ready for the solar eclipse coming up on the 20th March?

I really love a full moon and your fabulous photos underline why! I wonder whether an embroidery on the subject is in the pipeline? I hope so.

Oh my! Such fantastic moon pictures. I love your images. I just recently pinned on one of my Pinterest boards, the first pic of the moon by James Wallace and John Whipple (a daguerreotype apparently?!) Amazing! :)

Gorgeous photos! I love a full moon, especially when it's close enough to the earth that you feel you can reach out and touch it.
