I'd like to share with you a very moving project that
I know you will want to be a part of
to make a butterfly
to make 1,500,000 butterflies
one for each of the innocent children
who perished as a result of the Holocaust
I Never Saw Another Butterfly
The last, the very last,
So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow
Perhaps if the sun’s tears would sing
against a white stone....
Such, such a yellow
Is carried lightly ’way up high.
It went away I’m sure
because it wished
to kiss the world good-bye.
For seven weeks I’ve lived in here
Penned up inside this ghetto.
But I have found what I love here.
The dandelions call to me
And the white chestnut branches in the court.
Only I never saw another butterfly.
That butterfly was the last one.
Butterflies don’t live in here, in the ghetto.

sorry ... I've been quiet
I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps
I've caught a chill on top of an existing chest infection
(cough, cough)
hope to be back rambling again soon ...

My butterflies have already flown to Canada. I just had to support this, an old family friend came home one day as a youngster, to find his family had just 'vanished.'
Oh do get well soon Carolyn - get plenty of that healing sea-air!
I'd already got some plans in my head for a butterfly, to make after Christmas when life is a bit quieter. It's a wonderful project.
I hope you get well soon and thank you for the butterfly story. I sure will make one and sent it to canada. Greetings.....Peebee

Hi Carolyn - sorry to hear you've been poorly - I am also getting over it and still coughing so I know how you feel. Let's hope it's all over soon!
I think the butterfly project is wonderful and I really want to be involved. At the moment I am struggling to get the blinkie on my blog! Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm going to do a post on my blog for starters and take it from there.
You take care of yourself and get back to your usual bright creative self really soon!
Hugs,
Shoshi
