Machine Embroidery with Reverse Applique

For this sample I used a calico base, I layered many different shimmery sheer fabrics, satins, hand dyed silks etc. then added a piece of silk on top. I stitched the layers together then turned it over and on the reverse I machine stitched selective patterns from my starting picture, stitching through all layers. I used a gold metallic thread















On the right side of the fabric I used a really sharp pair of scissors to cut through some of the layers to reveal the coloured layers underneath. I added more machine stitching in gold and antique gold
