Distress - mixed media textile art

Details from one of my final global warming pieces

I layered many different types of fabric, metallics netting, faux fur, plastic, cottons, sheers and fabrics that I distresed and distorted (heated chiffons) to reflect on the distressed state of our planet. On top I added free machine embroidery, hand stitching and beads including beads I made myself

One of two final pieces for my global warming project. I've finished stitching this but I want to add a backing fabric which will be distressed further and it still needs to be mounted

I've finished working on this theme for now, but will probably come back to it later because the theme interests me. I need to have a little rest from it and work on other things for a while ...

Carolyn, you have combined some wonderful fabrics and stitch in this piece. The distortions make an interesting surface without being obvious distortions until you are drawn in to look closely. I will definitely come back and look at this work again.
