I regret not having this blog as part of "Red" as I have to sign in separately to blog here but I just discovered I could add "myself" as an author to my own blog so here is my first post as "Love Stitching Red". Anyway ...
I have so many things going on, working non-stop and no time to tidy up ... things are very piled up on my desk at the moment, but every now and then an accidental grouping of things totally catches my eye
I thought I would share with you this serendipitous arrangement of things I have just "dumped" on my desk for putting away ... my sketchbook, piles of vintage photos tied with jute string, vintage buttons and inspiring art cards I bought a while ago in St. Ives
... and on my windowsill I have a little natural dyeing going on. I used skimmia berries and I'm hoping for some interesting earthy mauves to use on my latest art doll on Stuffies. I'll be back to my pebbles again in the next post

Very inspirational, I'm afraid my desk mess isn't as arty for me to share with anyone, the mess has gotton to the stage where it is hampering creativity instead of adding to it so a sort and clean up is paramount.
Love your bundles of pictures tied up with strings- careful I might start singing....... the button idea is darling and the pile is wonderful!!! Gives clues at to one of your fav color palette!!!
Anxious to see what the berries produce.!!
Well, my desks have become mountains so we won't even go there....... But my window sills are full of little vessels holding geranium slips form last years plants. They are bllooming away and champing at the bit to get back out into the warm sunshine!!!

I wish I could see my windowsill ....I am not sure I still have one it's obscured by sweet tubs full of buttons,tissue paper, ribbon and 'bits' that might come in useful one day....lorna
On my desk: piles of papers at school but at home, journals and books and delicious colored pencils . . . pretty bowls, knitting and cameras. I like your brain - it's so fun!
My desk has embroidery in one corner, sewing machines out after dressmaking, beads and fabric but best of all is the purple primula to remind me spring is on its way. Love the comments on desks from your creative friends..I am not alone. x

Aww...I love these photos Carolyn, especially the jar of natural dying. I've had a crazy array of stuff on my desk over the weekend. I thought of you while playing with my fusible film : )
So much for me being quiet enough in January and February to do a swap! Here we are in March and things are mad already. One of these days though.............
Did you paint any of those watercolor paintings? They are so pretty. As are the button wrapped photographs. So special.
I keep my windowsills devoid of "stuff." I like them to be clean and uncluttered so as to not obstruct the beautiful views outside. I really detest clutter. Now my desk(s), that's another story! What's on my desk right now? Well, my computer, som "Best Buddy Bits" which are turkey flavor doggie treats, a candle, my pin cushion, some pages I've torn out of a few magazines for inspiration, my collection of embroidery flosses arranged by color in a plastic box, my camera and a cup of chai tea! But rest assured - it will be spotless before I go to bed. I hate waking up to a messy desk or work area! Aren't you glad you asked??? XOXO
I love the photos bundled with string and a button! A very nice image. A feather, a cobalt blue container with pens, a Quimper tin, 2 votive candles I bought on a memorable trip, my computer and 3 small notebooks are on my desk at the moment.

How do you manage to have such lovely 'accidental' groupings? My window sills have a selection of rocks, collected from various trips. Some small chips of beach reef from Australia, rocks from beaches mostly.

yes, Elizabeth is a hoot! love this blog too! oh and your little jar quietly dying things mauve! on my desk? old book pages, parts, painted and dyed pages and unfinished new collages... a complete chaos of gorgeosity!
How serendipitous! I just did a post on stones and pebbles in art and someone emailed me and told me about your blog and artwork with stones and pebbles--I featured several artists on my post and yours would have fit in perfectly. You have incorporated stones into your artwork in the most unique interesting ways-- I have scrolled down several posts and love all the work you have done.
I don't even want people to see what's on my desk. It is really a mess at the moment. I can't even think of one thing that isn't on my desk LOL......Great pictures Carolyn!

Carolyn have you seen the blog for Martin Waters by any chance? He was artist in residence on Spurn Point, East Yorkshire, an impossible spit of land that juts out into the north sea and has sea on one side and tidal river marsh on the other......an incredible place. He uses stones, in the most amazing designs and configurations and specialises also in artwork using the zillions of rubber gloves, plastic dummies, ducks, tins, balls etc that are washed up on those shores all year round, pictures of many are on his blog.
I think youd like his style if you havent already heard of him or seen his work.
