Did you see St. Ives, Cornwall on the telly again tonight?
BBC4 showed a film looking at the art colony of St Ives, which became as important as Paris or London in the history of modernism, during a creative period between the 1920s and 1960sa fascinating and beautiful watch ... highly recommended!

I saw this several months ago, Carolyn - I tried to contact you at the time but couldn't find an email address for you. It was an excellent programme! It's lovely that that "golden age" for St. Ives still has an important legacy, and St. Ives is far from being off the map in the art world. Anyway, one of my favourite artists happens to live there --- YOU!!!

I watched it and thought about you, Lesley and Noelle and how lucky you all are to live there. It was fascinating and you know I have a bit of a thing about Barbara Hepworth so I was mesmorised. I don't know anyone else who hails from Wakefield who speaks like she did!!! I want to visit Eagles Nest, is it ever open? xxxxx
Thanks for mentioning this, even though it meant that my good intentions for the afternoon whistled out of the window. Normally I'd find a programme where the subject matter was interspersed with shots of the presenter, in various locations, an irritation. In this case it simply added to the power of the programme.
I have not seen that film yet. I'll check it out.

I didn't catch that, but must try to find time to watch online. One of the highlights of St. Ives for me is the Barbara Hepworth museum/house. Toby and I could have stayed there all day last time we visited!
