Fusing plastic to calico

Top - plastic carrier bag ironed directly onto calico with a very hot iron (using baking paper over the plastic to protect the iron). The plastic got so hot it fused to the fabric. Because it has the calico base it would make a a great surface to stitch on. I haven't stitched on it yet, just stuck the sample in my book of techniques/ideas

Painting on plastic

I used acrylic paints to paint on plastic carrier bag. I added a layer of cling film on top, which I ironed to fuse the layers together

Cling film - I painted with shimmering acrylic paints on cling film then applied another layer of cling film on top. Using a piece of baking paper (to protect the iron) I ironed the two pieces of cling film which fused together. This makes a slightly ususual surface on which to stitch ...
