Ametrine and blackberries

One of my textile art pieces made it into two flickr galleries this week. One of the galleries is a celebration of the gem stone Ametrine

I didn't know this before but Ametrine is so called because it is part Amethyst and part Citrine so you can see purple and yellow/orange in the same stone. Isn't nature wonderful!

These colours together - pink, purple, yellow and orange - are the colours I associate with the warm Indian Summer we are enjoying at the moment

1. Ametrine 2. Peace & Serenity for Joe & Doreen, Health & healing.......ALWAYS! 3. Springtime Heaven 4. Mixed Media Textile Art 5. Mystery Mandala 6. Trace 7. Stepping stones 8. Etched Pezzottaite 9. 50 - OLHARES DE FEVEREIROS - Aquarela de Sonia Madruga - pintada com água de chuva. 10. Zinnia 'Zowie! Yellow Flame' 11. IMG_0866 12. Sunset over East Campus

My textile piece is number 4

Thank you to all artists for their amazing images in the Ametrine gallery

Now onto my natural dyeing with blackberries. I posted some of these pictures on Love Stitching Red but, for completeness, I wanted to post them here too

The fabrics have been in the tub for around 3 days and have now turned a bit more purple than red

The tiniest spots of white mould started to appear after three days so I couldn't have left the fabrics soaking any longer. After thoroughly washing and rinsing the fabrics all trace of the mould disappeared with no taint

I was really happy to get pinky red mauves

and also heather purples and truer purples with a slight blue tone

Here, I've left the fabrics on the airer to dry. I will show you them soon

The last piece is tie dyed with faded pink rings which is quite pretty

Thank you for looking!
